Engineering

NES engineering deliver innovation through all stages of the design life of contracts. With a culture of nuclear engrained within the department, NES use Suitable Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP), who are able to apply their experience and creativity, to a slim but robust “gated” system.

With over 60 years of accumulated experience NES are positioned uniquely within the nuclear market to deliver unique and innovative engineering designs.

From design concept, the NES engineering team works closely with the client to ensure a clear understanding of the clients exacting requirements are understood, ensuring that the final solution not only meets, but exceeds client expectations.

NES use proven technology as the basis for design, integrating innovative technologies from other high integrity markets, such as oil, gas, chemical and pharmaceutical, and applying them to the nuclear environment. Design innovation is supported by experience gained through previously delivered projects.

At NES we pride ourselves on getting it right first time. The use of 3D design tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software ensures that the transition from concept to scheme design and detail design for manufacturing is a continual process, with areas of innovation amalgamated with practical solutions. Fully functional solid scale models are used to test and verify key design areas before continuation into scheme and detail design for manufacturing. During the delivery of the scheme design and detail design for manufacturing, NES engineering department is supported by the use of advanced visualisation and virtual reality design tools.

NES' engineering department mixes time served nuclear experienced engineers with a number of nuclear graduates working through NES' graduate engineering scheme. The graduate engineering scheme has been accredited by IMechE's Professional Development Standards Committee for the development of Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Chartered Engineers (CEng).
